J-1 English Screenings

An English language proficiency assessment required for J-1 exchange visitors at Georgia Tech.

Who are you?

For Scholars and Interns

You don't schedule this yourself. Your Georgia Tech host department starts the process.

  1. Your GT host department requests a DS-2019 from the Office of International Education (OIE).
  2. GTLI emails you to schedule the assessment.
  3. You attend the assessment on Zoom (30-40 minutes, listening and speaking).
  4. Results are uploaded to iStart within 3-5 days. OIE uses these for the DS-2019 decision.

  • Desktop or laptop computer with webcam, microphone, and speakers (no tablet or phone)
