J-1 English Screenings
An English language proficiency assessment required for J-1 exchange visitors at Georgia Tech.
Who are you?
For Scholars and Interns
You don't schedule this yourself. Your Georgia Tech host department starts the process.
- Your GT host department requests a DS-2019 from the Office of International Education (OIE).
- GTLI emails you to schedule the assessment.
- You attend the assessment on Zoom (30-40 minutes, listening and speaking).
- Results are uploaded to iStart within 3-5 days. OIE uses these for the DS-2019 decision.
What to Prepare
- Passport or government-issued photo ID (in English or with English translation)
- Desktop or laptop computer with webcam, microphone, and speakers (no tablet or phone)
- Strong internet connection
